The Human Presence
Advantage Project

"The world changed faster than our frameworks could keep up. Something real is being asked of us now."

This is a living archive of field notes for leaders, founders, coaches, and business owners who are navigating a world that is moving faster than anyone expected, and who suspect that the answer is not more information, but something harder to name and more difficult to lose.

Excerpt from Field Note 003

I want to say something about the habit of checking. You know the one. You have a sense of something, a read on a client, an instinct about which direction to take a conversation, a feeling that the proposal needs one more pass before it goes out. And before you act on any of it, you open a new tab.

I am not going to tell you to stop. What I want to ask instead is what you are actually looking for when you do it. Because most of the time it is not information. You already have the information. What you are looking for is permission. You are looking for something outside yourself to confirm that what is inside you is allowed to be trusted.

That is not an AI problem. That is a much older question. And it is worth sitting with, because the leaders who are navigating this moment well are not the ones who have stopped using the tools. They are the ones who noticed when the tools started using them.

Case Note

023

How do I know if my hesitation is healthy caution or just fear holding me back?

Healthy caution asks what is true. Fear asks what could go wrong. The question you are actually sitting with will tell you which one is driving.

I keep checking ChatGPT to see if my instincts are right. Is that a problem?

When AI becomes the place we go to verify our own knowing, the deeper issue is usually not information. It is self-trust.

Am I a dinosaur for being uneasy about all of this AI change?

Unease in the face of genuine disruption is not a generational problem. It is an honest response. The leaders who pretend otherwise are the ones worth watching carefully.

New Case Notes are added regularly, drawn from real questions that leaders are sitting with right now. There are no tidy answers here, only honest ones.
